The revelations of secret, government surveillance programs monitoring the communications of millions of law-abiding Americans was deeply troubling, and represented a constitutional violation of the Fourth Amendment. I’ve also worked closely with my colleagues to ensure there is a warrant standard for electronic communications – something most Americans assume is already the case.
