Washington state’s newly drawn 1st Congressional District is an economically diverse and expansive district reaching as far south as Kirkland, going north to the Canadian border, reaching as far east to the Cascades.
The district covers Northeast King County (Bothell, Redmond, Kirkland, Medina, Carnation, Woodinville), eastern Snohomish County (Lake Stevens, Granite Falls Monroe, Monroe, Sultan, Arlington Heights, Snohomish), eastern Skagit County (Mount Vernon, Hamilton, Concrete) and large parts of Whatcom County outside of Bellingham (Blaine, Lynden, Ferndale, Sumas, Lummi Island).
Within the new borders of the 1st Congressional District is a diverse set of economic activity. The district includes rich agricultural lands in the Skagit Valley, dairy and rasberry farms in Whatcom county and economic centers for manufacturing, aerospace suppliers and world class tech companies.
The new district is home to quality schools and institutions of higher education including the University of Washington’s Bothell campus and a number of regional community and vocational schools.
